The Common Bluebottle (Graphium sarpedon) is a distinctive swallowtail butterfly identified by a vibrant, semi-transparent pale blue to turquoise band running across its black upperside wings. Often called the Blue Triangle, it has a 55-75mm wingspan and is known for its quick, erratic flight.

Key Identification Features:
Wing Band: A bright, iridescent bluish-green, macular band crosses both the forewings and hindwings.
Coloration: Upperside is deep black with the blue band; underside is dark brown, featuring faint red lines and a crimson spot near the base of the hindwing.
Shape: Hindwings feature a series of blue submarginal spots and often show a slightly pointed or tailed appearance.
Behavior: Known for rapid, fast-paced flight, frequently seen in urban and rural areas, with males commonly gathering near puddles to drink minerals.
